Home Care Instructions:

If you do not already have a crown in place, avoid chewing food on the affected side until your tooth is covered with a protective restoration. Your restorative dentist will provide this for you. You may continue your regular home oral hygiene program.

As written in your postoperative instructions, discomfort is alleviated by taking ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin. Since acetaminophen (Tylenol) has no anti-inflammatory properties, only take this if you are unable to take the other medications.

Since the reason for endodontic treatment sometimes involves bacteria, occasionally swelling or unusual pain may occur. This may be due to a developing infection or even an existing one that is resistant to fading. After hours, you may call the office at 760-741-1355. The answering service will reach the on-call doctor. It’s a good idea to have your pharmacy phone number available.
