As an endodontic patient, what should I expect?

There are 3 levels of care: diagnostic, non-surgical, and surgical.

1. Some symptoms can be vague. If your family dentist has concerns, a consultation visit will be scheduled. This may be necessary to properly diagnose the need for treatment, which tooth is the source of the problem, and if the tooth is a good candidate for endodontic therapy.

2. Non-surgical treatment is performed to eliminate the diseased pulp. This inflamed or infected tissue is removed, the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and shaped, and then sealed with gutta percha, a biocompatible material that has been successfully used for many decades.

3. Occasionally, microsurgery may be indicated.  Dr. Smith and Dr. Chesler are experts in performing this procedure. They utilize sophisticated microsurgical equipment and instruments, and advanced surgical techniques and materials to ensure the best result.
